Somehow the last day of April crept up and surprised me - where did the month go? I have been busy at work all day preparing for my staff that join me on Monday. I love this job, I really do. I feel very accomplished at the moment. I've been putting together orientation packages and setting up online workspaces to ease the starting process of my staff.
It's been gross all day here in Charlottetown right up until now. Somehow it went from rainy to sunny with a beautiful blue sky.
I have a little over an hour until it is the weekend. My first relaxed weekend since school ended. Hard to believe a week ago I was flying to McMaster. Yikes!

Oh hey, Wednesdays are for braggers, didn't you know?
I am going to brag about myself! You don't have to continue reading, you've been warned!
I have all but one of my marks for my final semester of my undergraduate degree.
Social Psych: A-
Pain Seminar: A
Human Sexuality: A+
Case Studies (practicum): A
I'm just waiting on my SOSA mark to complete the set. I'm pretty happy because I was worried about my Case Studies mark - and Case Studies is the only KINE requirement for fourth year. LIFE IS GOOD.

Just thought I'd let my loyal fans know that no, I did not delete you from Facebook. I deleted Facebook. Yup.
In more important news, the Habs defeated the Caps tonight to win the series 4-3. Moving on to the Pens. Halak was amazing once more. And I was even fortunate enough to not have to watch the game alone - I watched it with a girl I work with who is a huge hockey fan. Made for a much better evening.
Went to Pumphouse tonight (you may know their beer - the commercials hugging the fire hydrant). Got their blueberry ale, which they are most famous for. I've had it bottled, but on tap it is to die for. They serve it with blueberries floating in it, too - so good. Highly recommend!
I am heading home tomorrow. Hopefully to stay, for a while anyway.

I could be wrong, I could be ready
People often call me a pessimist, but little do they know I am almost always right and very rarely surprised. Doesn't make it any better, but at least I get to be right most of the time.
I wish I was never right.
I wish I was never right.
Maybe next time will be the right time
I know I've posted this Emerson quote before, but I kind of needed to hear it again.
"For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else."

This four day break in posts may have been the blog's longest hiatus since it's conception. Or not, I don't know. Either way, it's been a while.
Hamilton was every bit the hole that people say it is. What a grey city. McMaster campus itself was nice though. The interview went well. A bit intimidating, but a good experience all the same.
Can't say I did much in Hamilton aside from the interview. I watched a lot of TV and got my hair cut. The hair cut was spurr of the moment after my physio interview, although considering my split ends has split ends, it was entirely necessary. I'm missing about 5 inches of hair now. I miss it already.
On my way home from Hamilton I was bumped to first class by Air Canada - still unsure why. It was AWESOME. I got a bunch of white wine, a steak dinner, dessert, free movies (watched Sherlock Holmes for the second time), a complimentary Globe and Mail, and a hot towel (which I actually said no thanks to because I didn't really know what to do with it).
Finally made it to Hunter's music trivia on Sunday. Recounted my harrowing and anxiety ridden trip to Katherine and Lloyd. I think I told the story so well that I stressed Kat out. We came dead last - no surprise - but I like to think we had the best name (although "get down on your knees and smile like a donut" probably actually won). Our name was: If you can't dance, if you can't dance... you and Kate Gosselin have a lot in common.
Monday watched my beloved Habs capture victory over the Caps with David and his family. On to game 7 baby! Halak is my boy. Sadly I'll be watching game 7 alone in Moncton. I just want to be home. No more traveling!
Which brings me to today, my trip to Moncton. Seriously, I haven't spent more than one full day on PEI since moving home. But anyway, I am so proud of myself! For someone who has never driven past Summerside (sad, I know), I made it all the way to Moncton and my hotel perfectly. I realized Moncton is basically idiot-proof, but still. This idiot is pretty proud.
Spent the day in meetings for orientation. In case I didn't already mention, I'm the supervisor at the SCCY this summer. My staff starts on Monday. It's going to be a fun summer. Anyway, made for an extremely long day. And to top it all off, I have an ear infection. Went to the mall tonight, bought ear infection supplies (ear drops and Advil), and also got a new dress.
Success.

Thursday: Fairy Price edition
Not actually going to devote a whole post to Carey Price. Suffice it to say I love Halak! And not Price. Nice penalty last night. Basically I just wanted a chance to use "Fairy Price".
In other news, my itinerary for the next few days:
FRIDAY - fly out of Moncton, arrive in Hamilton
SATURDAY - Physio interview at McMaster
SUNDAY - fly out of Toronto, arrive in Charlottetown
MONDAY - start work at SCCY
TUESDAY - drive to Moncton for work conference
WEDNESDAY - Moncton
THURSDAY - drive home
Is it too much to ask to just be on PEI when I move home from school?

Weakness Wednesday v. Leaving Halifax behind
I've already said one goodbye and left a computer message goodbye at a friend's (he wasn't home but for some reason him and all three of his roommates don't lock the door so I took this as an invitation to go inside and open up Note Pad on his computer and leave him a heartfelt message saying goodbye and also happy birthday). I have to say goodbye to my roommates and this house (which includes my super big and awesome room that is probably five times bigger than my room at home so I am really not looking forward to no longer having this huge room) later today.
Also, on a completely unrelated note... I have had to deal with a surprisingly large number of chipped tooth cases, which I find odd considering I am only 21 years young. People, please just keep your teeth in your head.

Terrible Tuesday v. Not resting in peace
I'm packing up my life today so I can move out of my Halifax house tomorrow. It's a sad day. The sadness is made greater because I'm selling my favorite possession today, my bed. Sad, sad day.

I wish Hey Ocean! would come back out East, it's been too long since I last saw them.
I'm crazy for you, crazy for you
It's my blog and I may as well document my last few moments as an undergraduate student. I'm listening to loud music as a pre-exam pump up. Social Psychology doesn't stand a chance against me.
Soon to be: Lauren Edwards, Kinesiologist.

Hey you, what's that sound?
I tend to over-post about television shows that I really like, i.e. Weeds. But man, please watch Parks and Rec. It is hilarious and Office-esque.

Leslie: You know I was only with Mark for one night and I was hung up on him for six years. I dated Dave for three months, so if I continue that pattern I won't be over him for 500 years.
If you don't already watch Parks and Recreation (starring the wonderful Amy Poehler), you need to start. Like, yesterday.

Ugh, I totally have pregnant lady nose as of late. The smell of most food makes me nauseous. I'm not pregnant, for the record.
On a less weird note, I had my physiotherapy interview at Dal today. It went well, I think. It's a standardized interview process, so there's no feedback. But I feel good about it.
One exam to go - Monday!

I wanna be here and nowhere else, rationing off bits of myself
My friend Natalie is throwing a party on Saturday, which I mistakenly thought was a Jersey Shore costume party. I got all stoked and planned an extremely accurate Snookie costume. Seriously, I was looking for a pillow to make my stomach as accurate as possible.
So today I am hanging out with Natalie and some of our friends and she's like, I hope you're coming to the party Sarturday! And I'm like, Yeah man, I can't wait... got my Snookie costume all ready. She gave me a weird look and that was that.
Later I got a text that said something along the lines of, Hey, just wanted to make sure you know that the party isn't a costume party - don't want to pull a Mean Girls on you.
Natalie is a good friend.

Got no time to take a picture, I'll remember someday
This Sociology and Social Anthropology of the Body take-home exam is really taking its toll on my brain. In the first question alone I've had to explore Shilling's views on naturalistic and socially constructed views of the body, taking into account Foucault, Douglas, Goffman, and countless other theorists. It's tiresome to say the least. So far, I have a huge amount of notes on social constructionist views and three lines for naturalistic views, even though naturalistic views are what I am majoring in basically (naturalistic views of the body are scientific!). I really enjoyed the course all semester, but this take-home is seriously compromising my positive views of it now.
On top of this stress bomb, I am preparing for my physiotherapy interview on Saturday, studying for my Social Psychology exam on Monday, and attempting to pack my entire life up to take home to PEI.
I need to get my anxiety under wraps.

People often ask me for advice on a wide variety of issues. I find this funny because people often also question my life choices and discuss them at length amongst one another. I guess people think that there is a quota for bad decisions and I have used mine up on myself. Either way, I have been able to give a lot of people excellent advice on such topics as whether or not to invite babydaddy to the party and how many people it takes to make it an orgy.
Send me a message if you too would like to know the answer to that last one.

Sometimes texts lose their meaning if you hit the wrong word in T9. Sometimes they become better. This text from my Dad made me chuckle.

Google is the only search engine I ever use and I would be lost without Google Maps (literally). New York Times posted 10 search tips to get the most out of Google. I use Google for #2 on the list all the time, but I had no idea #7 was possible and I love it. Check it out.

Average, average, average
I am going to share with you all a secret. I don't really like Joel Plaskett all that much. I know, it's basically blasphemy for an Atlantic Canadian to say so, but it's how I feel. However, before you hate me, one of his songs is actually one of my favorite songs of all time: Sailors Eyes.
I like some of his other songs too, but I just don't go as ape over him as everyone else seems to.
There, it's out in the open. I feel so much better.

Right now I'm sitting in my kitchen sipping on some delicious white wine and writing my take-home pain class exam. I'm also listening to my iTunes list on shuffle.
Oh what a night.
Oh what a night.
I'll never love again, you've left me speechless
As if I haven't mentioned it enough over the last week, I am (as of an hour ago) finished my classes at Dalhousie for my BScK. I've made it through four years of classes, labs, tutorials, assignments, midterms, exams, quizzes, readings, projects, and presentations. The only loose ends of this degree to tie up are two take-home exams, a portfolio due on Monday, and an exam on the 19th.

Come on rude boy, boy can you get it up?
Man, remember when Rihanna first came out and she was a total hottie? She had long hair and she looked kind of like Barbie's black friend, whatever her name is.

Not that Rihanna's unattractive now, but I think she should grow her hair back out and stop trying to mimic M.I.A.'s videos (Rude Boy anyone?).

So my mother might not approve of countdowns and living too far in the future, but I am going to make this announcement anyway: Tomorrow is my last day of classes for my undergrad!

In my head I see you all over me
I got my reflection paper on the sex industry back today, 95%. I don't typically talk about how I'm doing in my classes, but for some reason I love to share my sex class successes. Going into the final, I could not write it and finish with a 75% in the course.
Just call me a sexpert.
Just call me a sexpert.
The Wonderful Years
Let it all hang out
I spent the early afternoon yelling things like "celibacy", "chastity", "pelvic inflammatory disease!" and other things that aren't often appropriate to yell in class, unless of course that class is Human Sexuality and you are playing sex trivia. Unfortunately we didn't win, but that wasn't due to a lack of effort and volume on my part.

And they all lived happily ever after
My mother dislikes when I make countdowns and tell her how many days are left until I'm finished school or til my birthday. She thinks I should live more in the moment, or at least more day by day. That's why I knew she'd get a kick out of me today when I said, "Today is the last Monday of my undergrad!"
And when I followed it up with, "Tomorrow will be the last Tuesday of my undergrad! Wednesday will be the last Wednesday of my undergrad!..."
My mom thinks I'm funny.

It's been 20+ degrees all weekend and today here in Halifax. Amazing. I've sat out on our deck every day. While Halifax is known for being grey and rainy, when it is sunny, it's one of the nicest places to be.
I'd still pick PEI on a sunny day though.

If rap gets jealous because I rock heavy, it don't worry me
My sister's boyfriend was amazed at how long my family can sit and talk with each other and not do anything else. I took this as a high compliment. We enjoy each other's company more and more now that we are older. Couldn't ask for a better family.

Never lose perspective
the split second in walking when both of your feet are airborne
the distance between a target and the knowledge of a gunshot
water in your throat
the space of decline when a masseuse’s finger slips from a knotted muscle
the time between balance and impact with the earth
my fingers submerged in water, in a dive
the moment, in a train lavatory, when a sideways sway has thrown a spray of urine
away from the bowl’s mouth
any sporting ball suspended in the air
the heat of mouths before lips contact
the time between an engine and the sound of it
the stretching of a knuckle before it cracks
a drill changing its tonality as it contacts a sheet of maple
whole snowflakes as they meet your tongue
a minute hand jumping to its next hour before the clock can chime
the stretched pressure of a guitar string before sound
the darkness that happens before any object collides with your face
the second of ease when the piano you are pushing has built up enough force to glide
any form of jumping
waves
a bird in flight

I'll be good once I get it
My parents are coming over to the mainland tomorrow to spend Easter with my sister and me. It'll be the first time I've had a family Easter since 2006. I don't really feel like I've been missing out on anything, but it'll be nice to see my parents and get a good meal out of it. Plus, my parents are going to move some of my stuff home, so that is handy.

Jenny Owen Youngs is one super fly chick. I recommend checking out Fuck Was I, my favorite Jenny tune. She's also the girl that does the cover of Hot In Herre, which is basically why I think she's the coolest girl on the planet. And her cover totally owns the original.

Redrum
Fog has descended upon the city for the second or third night in a row and Halifax resembles Whitechapel. Or at least how I would envision Whitechapel. Walking to the store, I was waiting for Jack the Ripper to come out of the shadows and slice me open.

Does anyone remember the show Made in Canada? It starred Rick Mercer. It was a typical Canadian television show. Don't feel bad if you don't remember it, as I said, it was a Canadian show. Anyway, they played the theme song at the bar tonight. Blow at High Dough by the Tragically Hip.

Everything's going postal
Apparently saving on envelopes and stamps isn't just a Dalhousie thing - McMaster just emailed me and offered me an interview for their physiotherapy program! I am so excited!
Bam, roasted!
I pretty much forgot that today was April Fool's Day, but I managed to sleep in until noon anyway, so I avoided it altogether. However, my Facebook newsfeed was still littered with "pranks" when I got up. One friend said it was his birthday AND that he was engaged. Someone else said they were pregnant.
I don't remember ever really participating in April Fool's Day. One year, when I was little, my sister and I placed a rubber fly in my Dad's food. I think that's the extent of it all.

The waiting game
There is a big poster of the cover of Les Miserables in the waiting room at the Dalhousie Health Services clinic, and I'm just wondering what kind of message that is sending to patients?
Yes I am miserable sitting here in this hot room with a bunch of sick people. I am tired, overheated, ill, and I don't really like waiting. I am glad I have this poster to remind me how awful this is.
